Brad Pitt on the cover of Entertainment Weekly Mag.

Highlights from Pitt's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to visit EW!

On his Sexiest Man Alive status:

“Well, they’re not saying you’re the Biggest A–hole, you know? When you get older, you realize it’s just for fun. Clooney and I were able to have fun with it later. But in some ways, I’m still a kid from Missouri and Oklahoma and I’m trying to find my way. By the way, we’re only talking about a blip. I didn’t spend much time thinking about it.”

On his joint "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" effort with Angelina Jolie: “A husband and wife who actually want to kill each other—I thought that was a launching pad for something really fun and vibrant. Again, that was something we were developing as we were going along, and Angie’s a great partner in that. We work really well together. We had some good workshops beforehand. Had some good laughs and ideas. That was just a great collaboration that turned into a greater collaboration.”

On the possibility of working alongside his lady in the future: “We should be doing them together—that’s what we should be doing. We should be doing everything together, and then we could work less. We could have more time off.”

---

Brad Pitt gives a rare, three-and-a-half hour interview in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, speaking from London where he’s promoting Moneyball and shooting the zombie epic World War Z.

He talks about career highs, like meeting Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith:
“We had some good workshops beforehand. Had some good laughs and ideas. That was just a great collaboration that turned into a greater collaboration.”

He admits the couple may want to rethink their policy of never working at the same time — it helps with child rearing, but also means they can’t make movies together.

“We should be doing them together,” Pitt says, in the first in a series called The EW Interview, dedicated to icons reflecting on their careers.

“That’s what we should be doing. We should be doing everything together, and then we could work less. We could have more time off.”

The conversation covers many low moments as well, and Pitt is ruthlessly honest about his own failures. Told he looks miserable in 1994’s Interview with The Vampire, he says:
“I am miserable. Six months in the f—ing dark. Contact lenses, makeup, I’m playing the bitch role…”

Pitt says he was depressed by the colorless role and the dreary London shoot:
“One day, it broke me… I called David Geffen, who was a producer… I said,
‘David, I can’t do this anymore. I can’t do it. How much will it take to get me out?’

And he goes, very calmly, ‘Forty million dollars.’”

The eldest son, Alfred, soon finds himself in love with his brother's fiance, and things get worse when he discovers a growing passion between Susanna and Tristan.

Behind the Scenes
Meet Joe Black is the culmination of two decades of gestation on the part of director/producer Martin Brest and was inspired by a character from the 1920s stage play adapted for the screen in 1934 as Death Takes A Holiday.

"I first saw the original film over 20 years ago," Brest says, "and it intrigued me; haunted me, really. There was a suggestion in the old movie of what might be a great story, but it was a story that had yet to be discovered. We had to start from scratch because rather than do a remake I wanted to explore an element that sparked my interest."

Summary( CONTAINS SPOILERS !)  [IMDb]

William Parish  is a multimillionaire who has run a successful empire for the past forty years in New York. But, he feels empty when his wife  (Joan) passes away and also completely convinced that Death is after him now too. He hears strange voices in his head, mimicking his own words that seem phony and also ridiculing him in every possible manner.

The film begins at the planning of William's 65th birthday by his elder and somewhat meddlesome daughter, Allison. Meanwhile his youngest daughter Susan, who is an attractive young doctor, meets a handsome and cheery stranger in a café, but fails to learn his name. When they both leave the café to go their separate ways, the young man is hit by a car, and Susan is unaware of this.

It turns out the dreaded skeletal and infamous figure that all men fear, wants a holiday from the taxing eternal responsibility of taking the souls of the dead to the after life.

He chooses William to be his guide and adopts the now once again perfect body of the handsome stranger who was killed by a car. He makes a deal with Will that if he can show him around the world of mortals, then William gets to live a little longer than originally on the schedule of the powers that be. William agrees after much doubt of his own sanity and how well this will actually work, after all Death isn't versed in the customs of the upper class or any human class for that matter.

When Death is introduced to William's family at a dinner at his house, Susan immediately remembers him and is confused and upset by his odd behavior towards her now.

When Death's name is asked by Susan's nosy fiancé (Drew), William replies that he is an old friend of his and that his name is "Joe Black". The family isn't that keen to swallow this, but go along with it, unwilling to question William's statement. As the plot unwinds it shows that Susan isn't in love with her fiancé, Drew.
After all and that she is beginning to realize her true feelings for Joe. This complicates matters, as William doesn't want Death to be involved with his daughter, and that the deal didn't include this. Death has little care for William's feelings and allows Susan to fall for him.

Behind the scenes the weasel like Drew is seeking to sell William from the company and run it himself, by selling the company to a possible buyer and an enemy of William's. Everything comes to a head at Will's 65th birthday that proves to be absolutely perfect.

Joe pretends to be a tax agent for the government and scares Drew into resigning from the company, Susan's life and reinstating William as head of the board again. But it is time for William and Death to go, and much to the pain of Death, he must leave Susan behind.

When Susan follows them to the edge of the garden and the bridge that Death and William disappear over, the cute stranger that she met in the café walks back over.

She realizes that he isn't Joe Black anymore and that she'll never see the intelligent, strange and peanut butter loving man who was Joe, ever again.

The Aldrich Mansion is a late 19th century property owned by the Roman Catholic Church (Diocese of Rhode Island) since 1939.

It is located by the scenic Narragansett Bay in Warwick, Rhode Island, south of Providence, Rhode Island.

It was originally owned by Senator Nelson Aldrich. Its construction began in 1896 and was completed some 16 years later. In 1901 Abby Aldrich married John D. Rockefeller, Jr. at the mansion. In 1939, the Senator’s heirs transferred the Aldrich Mansion to the Providence Diocese for a token sum. Our Lady of Providence Seminary relocated to the Aldrich Mansion in 1946.

The estate is currently set on 85 acres (34 ha) (or 75 depending on the source). It consists of the French inspired mansion itself, a coach house, a caretaker's cottage and boathouse.

It was William Parrish(Anthony Hopkin)'s mansion in the 1998 motion picture Meet Joe Black.

Filming also took place in Teaneck, New Jersey and New York.

 Synopsis [ wikipedia]

A vampire named Louis tells his 200-year-long life story to reporter Daniel Molloy (who is only referred to as "the boy" in the novel).

In 1790, Louis was a young indigo plantation owner living south of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Distraught with the death of his wife in childbirth. Both his wife and the infant died, and now he has lost his will to live., he seeks death in any way possible.

Louis is approached by a vampire named Lestat, who desires Louis' company. Lestat turns Louis into a vampire (although initially Louis begs to be killed) and the two become immortal companions. Lestat spends some time feeding off the local plantation slaves while Louis, who finds it morally impossible for him to murder humans to survive, feeds from animals.

Louis and Lestat are forced to leave when Louis' slaves begin to fear the monsters with which they live and instigate an uprising. Louis sets his own plantation aflame; he and Lestat exterminate the plantation slaves to keep word from spreading about vampires living in Louisiana. Gradually, Louis bends under Lestat's influence and begins feeding from humans. He slowly comes to terms with his vampire nature but also becomes increasingly repulsed by what he perceives as Lestat's total lack of compassion for the humans he preys upon.

Escaping to New Orleans proper, Louis feeds off a plague-ridden young girl one night, no more than four or five years old, whom he finds next to the corpse of her mother. Louis begins to think of leaving Lestat and going his own way. Fearing that, Lestat then turns the girl into a vampire "daughter" for them, to give Louis a reason to stay. She is then given the name "Claudia".

Initially, Louis is horrified that Lestat has turned a child into a vampire, but instantly cares for Claudia tenderly and dotingly. Claudia takes to killing people easily, but over time begins to hate Lestat as she realizes she can never grow up; although her mind matures into that of an intelligent, assertive woman, her body remains that of a five-year-old girl. After 60 years of living together, Claudia hatches a plot to dispose of Lestat by poisoning him and cutting his throat. Claudia and Louis then dump his body into a nearby swamp. After realizing that they seem to now be the only vampires living in America, Claudia desires to travel to Europe with Louis and seek out "Old World" vampires.

As Louis and Claudia prepare to flee to Europe, Lestat appears, having survived and recovered from Claudia's attack, and attacks them in turn. Louis sets fire to their home and barely escapes with Claudia, leaving a furious Lestat to be consumed by the flames.

Arriving in Europe, Louis and Claudia seek out more of their kind. They travel throughout eastern Europe first and do indeed encounter vampires, but these vampires appear to be nothing more than animated corpses, mindless and unintelligible. It is only when they reach Paris that they encounter vampires like themselves - specifically, the 400-year-old vampire Armand and his coven, the Théâtre des Vampires. Inhabiting an ancient theater, Armand and his vampire coven disguise themselves as humans and feed on live, terrified humans in mock-plays before a live human audience (who think the killings are merely a very realistic performance). Claudia is repulsed by these vampires and what she considers to be their cheap theatrics. Santiago, a prominent figure among the vampire coven, suspects Claudia and Louis of killing their maker. One rule among the vampires is death to any vampire who kills their own kind.

Claudia demands that Louis turn a human Parisian dollmaker, Madeleine, into a vampire to serve as both a mother figure and a replacement for Louis (Claudia is convinced that Louis wants to be with Armand and will leave her). Louis at first refuses but, after realizing Claudia's plight, gives in and makes Madeleine into a vampire. Louis, Madeleine and Claudia live together for a brief time but all three are abducted one night by the Theatre vampires. Lestat has arrived - having survived the fire and attempted murder in New Orleans. His accusations against Louis and Claudia result in Louis being locked in a coffin to starve, while Claudia and Madeleine are locked in an open courtyard. Armand arrives and releases Louis from the coffin, but Madeleine and Claudia are burned to death by the rising sun. Louis finds the ashes and remains of Claudia and Madeleine and is devastated. He later returns to the Theatre late the following night, burning it to the ground as the sun rises and killing all the vampires inside, and leaves with Armand.

Louis and Armand then travel across Europe together for several years, but Louis never fully recovers from Claudia's death. Tired of the Old World, Louis eventually returns to America and New Orleans in the early 20th century, living as a loner; he feeds off any humans that cross his path but lives in the shadows and never creates another companion for himself.

Telling the boy of one last (which is described in detail by Lestat in later books) encounter with Lestat in New Orleans, Louis ends his tale; after 200 years, he is weary of immortality as a vampire and all the pain and suffering to which he has had to bear witness.

The boy, however, seeing only the great powers granted to a vampire, begs to be made into a vampire himself. Infuriated that his interviewer learned nothing from his story, Louis refuses, and attacks the boy, feeding off him and rendering him unconscious. He then vanishes without a trace.

Recovering from the attack, the boy notes the address of the house where Louis last saw Lestat in New Orleans, and then leaves to track down Lestat for himself.

Kirsten Dunst as Claudia

Comments
The characters are so well portrayed by an amazing cast; lead Cruise as Lestat was so outstandingly evil and captivating in the part. You couldn't leave your eyes off him.

Brad Pitt, as Louis was so beautiful, yet so chronically depressed, and torched in this role. Many times in the film he had to reflect Louis's eternal despair with mere facial reactions. He pulled it off so well!
